Art Is Hard on the Brain……

So after doing drawings where we are observing line and shadow very carefully, it has come to my attention that I can not look at things any more without trying to figure out how they are made up. I was talking to my friend last night and there was a tree behind her. I realized that instead of listening to her I was trying to see how the shadows and highlights on it made it look so round and shiny. I was trying to figure out how you would translate that to paper. Some of the shadows were really soft, while I noticed that the highlights tended to be much sharper. At another time I was watching a show and they had a shot of a beautiful house. Instead of focusing on the house I found myself focusing in this strange line made by where the street and the sidewalk met. Needless to say this makes my brain hurt!

  1. unfortunately people will start to think you’re not paying enough attention to them, and then you’ll find that you enjoy life more…not because you’re not paying attention to people, but because you get more stuff out of your vision. Maybe also because you don’t spend so much attention on people…I don’t know…I’m just saying…
