OMG It’s an Erin!

This piece was very cool. I loved learning this new technique. It was difficult to pick up at first. i had to get used to several different things at once. First was having to stare at my own face for hours at a time. Second was having to get used to pulling away rather than putting on. This accomplished two things. I got used to looking at my face in an entirely new way. I stopped seeing my face as what it looked like, and started seeing it as a compilation of shapes and shades. I noticed things that I never had before too, like the fact that both my eyes and my mouth are crooked. I also got used to looking at highlights on my face so that I could see what I had to take off of the page as opposed to looking at shadows to see what I had to add onto the page. Overall it was a very good exercise for changing the way that I see things.
